A hash is an encrypted alphanumeric value of specific size. It is the output of a mathematical function that changes data of any random size into encrypted data of fixed length.

 

Hashing ensures the authenticity and integrity of exchanged data, thereby enabling secure transactions to take place. This is core to blockchain technology and especially cryptocurrency to validate transactions, averting fraudulence and double spending.
