Halving is the event when mining rewards are decreased to half. These halving events are a design feature of most cryptocurrencies, predetermined by their codes. In the case of bitcoin, halving is positively correlated with an increase in price. Despite the halving of rewards, mining incentives are maintained due to price increases.
