A private sale comes before the initial coin offering (ICO) and presale. It typically offers bonuses to investors and discounts on token purchases depending on the volume of the sale. During a crowdsale, the tokens could be bought up quickly, so private sales give institutional investors more possibilities to buy tokens. The tokens could be locked up for a certain period of time, to avoid immediate sale when the ICO is launched and to protect the token’s value from dropping.
