What is Asset management

Asset management is the handling of an asset portfolio with the objective of maximizing portfolio value with minimal risk. Asset management is performed by financial advisors, who could be individuals or organizations such as investment banks. Asset management can be active or passive. Active asset management consists of providing recommendations and advice over investment decisions following extensive research and analysis of the portfolio, whereas passive management is less demanding, following specific market indices.
