What is API

The application programming interface (API) is the set of protocols that allow different computer software or applications to communicate with each other. This permits new applications to integrate with existing one. APIs facilitate the work of developers, leading to both cost and time savings. APIs also bring value to businesses by helping them utilize existing tools to bring innovation to the market, thereby achieving synergy. Some prominent APIs are the Google Maps API and Twitter API.
